About us
Rooted in faith, grown in Nashville
St. Andrew's is a small, intergenerational congregation of the Presbyterian Church — worshiping on the same North Nashville corner since 1898.
Our mission
“St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church seeks to reflect the kingdom of God by worshipping and loving God, sharing the gospel and studying scripture, loving one another and joining with the community to bring God's transforming love to all.”
And our vision: We further dedicate ourselves to creating disciples of all ages and transforming the community, being intentional with outreach and fellowship with community organizations and churches. You can see it in our ministries and in more than a century of neighborhood history.
What we believe
We are a congregation of the Presbyterian Church, the largest Presbyterian denomination in the country. "Presbyterian" describes how we're governed — by elders elected from the congregation — and "Reformed" describes our theology: that we are saved by God's grace alone, received through faith.
In practice, that means Scripture is central to our worship, baptism and the Lord's Supper are celebrated as signs of God's promise, and no one — member or minister — stands above the community's shared discernment. You don't need to affirm a list of doctrines to visit; questions are welcome here.
Leadership
Presbyterian congregations are led by teams, not personalities. Here's who does what:

The Pastor — Rev. Leonard E. Jordan
Pastor Jordan was born and raised at St. Andrew's and now shepherds the congregation that raised him. A native Nashvillian, he is a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University and Louisville Presbyterian Seminary, and has served as Moderator of the Presbytery of Middle Tennessee. He preaches, teaches, and provides pastoral care alongside the congregation's elected leaders — reach him through the church office at (615) 320-7696 or info@standrewspres.net.

The Session
The Session is our elected council of elders — the congregation's governing board. In Presbyterian churches, "session" simply means the group of elders responsible for the church's life, worship, and mission.

The Diaconate
Our deacons lead the church's ministry of compassion — visiting the sick and homebound, coordinating the prayer chain, and caring for neighbors in crisis. They are the hands and feet of our Prayer & Care ministry.
The Presbytery
We don't do ministry alone. St. Andrew's belongs to the Presbytery of Middle Tennessee — a regional body of Presbyterian congregations that supports, connects, and holds its churches accountable to one another.

The Presbyterian Church
The Presbyterian Church is a national denomination of about 8,500 congregations, descended from the Protestant Reformation's Reformed tradition. Membership connects St. Andrew's to mission work around the world and to a network of sister churches across Middle Tennessee.
